Our Services

I believe that we are all wired for connection and I am passionate about helping individuals and couples cultivate the intimacy for which they long. I believe that no matter how destructive behaviors may seem in couples and families, they typically represent people’s sincere efforts to achieve safety and satisfaction in their relationships. As a strengths-based therapist, I believe all individuals have capabilities, skills, and internal resources that can be utilized to achieve their treatment goals. It is through tapping into these strengths and insights, we will be able to work together to co-create the necessary changes and healing.

I have experience working with couples in the area of premarital counseling, co-parenting concerns, blended family issues, families/couples experiencing separation, adjustment to parenthood and the parenting of children with special needs/behavioral issues. I also have experience working with couples healing from infidelity. I have a special interest in working with couples who have become emotionally disconnected, where communication has broken down and the ability to meet each other’s emotional needs has been lost. I also specialize in working on female focused concerns (both adults and teens) including: body image issues, acceptance, relationship/dating concerns, anxiety/depression, social struggles and more. Additionally I have been trained in Brain Spotting; a powerful affective research based therapeutic technique.  Brain Spotting works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional and physical distress.  BST is use to treat a variety challenging symptoms and experiences including; trauma, mental blocks, physical pain, negative emotions, anxiety/performance anxiety, depression, PTSD and other emotional and mental health imbalances.

My therapeutic approach involves supporting clients in: (1) recognizing their needs for emotional closeness, (2) bringing awareness to unsuccessful attempts to fulfill these needs, (3) increasing understanding of the impact of each member’s behavior on the other members, (4) assisting members in asking directly and vulnerably for their attachment needs to be met, and (5) engaging in effective problem solving once healthy attachment has been secured. I use a combination of Experiential, Structural, and Systemic interventions to facilitate emotional expression, prompt awareness of self in relationship to others, and assist individuals/couples in constructing clear boundaries to guide the change process. I am also open to incorporating Spirituality into my work in a way the does not alienate non-religious clients, with a stance of acceptance and openness.

I would love the opportunity to work with you and your loved ones to reach your therapeutic goals. I see my role as co-investigator, collaborator and, at times, choreographer. I use selective self-disclosure, warmth, and humor to create a genuine therapeutic relationship and I rely on my personal experiences with the client and intuition (in addition to our treatment goals) to guide the therapeutic process. I believe the process of therapy is a mutually shared experience of inevitable change on the part of the therapist and the client and that the very potency of therapy lies in this vibrant, dialectical nature. I truly believe that healing and healthy relationships are attainable for all of us.

I see clients at our Edina location either in-office or virtually.  You can contact me at: tori@mn-ccc.com.
